4:16pm GMT, Wednesday, 16 April 2008

BAE Systems’ acquisition of IST Dynamics will help bolster its Land Systems South Africa division.

International global defence and aerospace company BAE Systems has today (16 April) announced it is to acquire the business and assets of IST Dynamics for an undisclosed fee.

The South African company, a specialist in fire control systems and remotely controlled weapon platforms, is currently owned by the Ethos Group of Companies.

Johan Steyn, Managing Director of BAE’s Land Systems South Africa division, commented on the deal: “The capabilities of IST Dynamics complement those of Land Systems South Africa and further enhance the position of BAE Systems to better serve our local customers and to expand opportunities globally.

“Our combined capabilities will ensure that Land Systems South Africa is well equipped as systems supplier for key South African programmes and will also expand our capabilities as a prime contractor and provider of through-life support for such programmes.”

IST Dynamics generated sales of £4.8 million during the financial year ending 29 February 2008.
