EA Sports becomes Premier League technology partner
The Premier League has named EA Sports as its first official technology partner.
Electronic Arts (EA) has today announced that EA Sports is to become the first official sports technology partner of the Premier League.
In the announcement made yesterday (22 July), EA will be able to expand its relationship with football fans with enhanced experiences and more authentic technological tie-ins with the Barclays Premier League.
The money involved in the deal has not been released but EA will earn several lucrative rights from the deal. EA Sports branding will be featured on screen during live Premier League fixture broadcasts.
The US gaming company will also sponsor the Player Performance Index, replacing Actim, and be linked to match statistics.
Additionally, EA Sports will publish a Team of the Week on the Premier League’s website.
Matt Bilbey, Vice President of Football at EA Sports, said: “Partnering with the Premier League further establishes EA Sports and its FIFA franchise as the ultimate, authentic football gaming experience.
“We look forward to adding further in-game authenticity with the direct access to the Player Performance Index as well as releasing new ways to leverage our technology to enhance the fans enjoyment of Barclays Premier League football on and beyond match day each week.”
Richard Masters from the Premier League added: “Fans have a thirst for statistics and information and that is something that the Premier League, working with EA Sports, will provide to a level not seen before in professional football.”
