Refund worries for Michael Jackson concerts

People who have bought tickets for Michael Jackson’s sell-out concert tour at London’s O2 arena can expect to have their money refunded.

Pop legend Michael Jackson died yesterday (25 June) of a cardiac arrest, confirmed by his brother Jermaine Jackson.

Earlier this year, Jackson announced a “Farewell” tour of 50 concert dates at the O2, due to begin 13 July. The tickets, priced between £50 and £75, sold at a rate of 11 per second, 657 per minute and nearly 40,000 each hour.

Fans who bought tickets directly from official ticket companies should now get a full refund with little hassle. Those who purchased tickets from third parties may have more trouble.

Some third party sellers do not feature terms and conditions and therefore buyers have no legal rights. People who bought tickets from private sellers will also face the same problem. It is at the seller’s discretion to refund or not.

Tickets bought directly from the O2 arena or other companies connected officially to the tour should get a refund or the chance to exchange their tickets for another event as per the terms and conditions.

Most established agencies also stipulate a refund policy in their terms and conditions.

Ticket holders should check their confirmation emails for more details and check the ticket seller’s website for the terms and conditions.

Concert organiser AEG Live said an official announcement would be made in due course and sent its condolences to the family.

Ticket company Seatwave has already confirmed that all ticket purchases from them would be refunded in full.

Mike Says:

I will surely miss Michael Jackson, he is really worthy of the name King of Pop and he is certainly one of the greatest musicians of all time.
