Mothercare and Boots have teamed up to produce a new range of children’s clothing. Mothercare and Boots have teamed up to produce a new range of children’s clothing.

High street pharmacist Boots has formed a strategic partnership with Mothercare to produce a range of children’s clothing for its 2,600 stores in the UK and 55 in Ireland.

The two firms announced yesterday (9 February 2010) that they will design, source and supply a new children’s clothing and accessories brand to be sold exclusively through Boots stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Boots already has a successful commercial relationship with Mothercare, selling its Early Learning Centre toys in over 400 stores.

It is expected that the new range will supersede the current Mini Mode brand that is sold at Boots – owned by Adams, which went into administration for the second time in a year last month.

For Mothercare, its new product range cannot fail to succeed in one of the most popular stores on the British high street. Globally, the Mothercare brand operates across 52 countries with 1,111 owned and franchised stores. Boots is part of Alliance Boots, an international health and beauty group with a presence in over 20 countries.

Alex Gourlay, Chief Executive, Health & Beauty Division, Alliance Boots, said: “We are very pleased to be extending our relationship with Mothercare. We believe this move will further strengthen our baby and child range and build on our reputation for offering great value children’s wear. This agreement demonstrates our commitment to developing strategic partnerships to grow and expand our business.”

Ben Gordon, Chief Executive, Mothercare, said: “We are delighted with this latest addition to our existing successful partnership with Boots. We expect this agreement to be a substantial development in our recently announced wholesale strategy. Work has already commenced on what will be a distinctive and quality product range for customers.”
