Dubai-based Emaar Properties has announced it is to create 1,600 new jobs over the next three months through the development of exciting new attractions and hotels.

Emaar Properties PJSC, one of Dubai’s largest real estate companies, is generating the jobs through the launch of several new hotels, a KidZania®, SEGA Republic and a 22-screen REEL Cinema.

One of the hotels, The Address, is near completion and the five-star residence will house 245 signature rooms and 450 serviced apartments. The hotel is based in the Dubai Mall, which has launched as the world’s largest shopping and entertainment centre, and was opened on 8 May 2009 by Ruler and Prime Minister of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The new jobs will bring Emaar’s total employment in the country to nearly 4,000. They will cover a range of tasks encompassing retail, hospitality and leisure. Skilled professionals are being hired both locally and from further afield.

Mr Mohammed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar said: “Our strategy for 2009 is to push growth in existing subsidiary businesses while the core property business recovers from the global economic challenges.

“The current recruitment strategy, coming at a critical time for the global economy, marks our commitment to deliver a quality experience for visitors.”

Emaar Properties are also the company behind the construction of the ‘Burj Dubai’, currently standing at a height of 800m; it has overtaken the KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota, USA, to make it the world’s tallest man-made structure.
