Mattel pulls more toys worldwide
The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn 2-in-1 Learning Kitchen poses a choking hazard to children.
Toy manufacturing giant Mattel has made its fifth toy recall in less than five months, after it emerged a product in its Fisher-Price range could pose a safety threat to children.
The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn 2-in-1 Learning Kitchen has been pulled from shelves as the clock and tap can release small parts posing a choking hazard to young children if removed from the kitchen unit, Mattel said.
Around 7,000 toys in the UK and Republic of Ireland are affected by the safety recall. Mattel is sending customers who have already bought the product a free repair kit, whilst those pulled from stores will be repaired in Mattel’s warehouses. There have been no reported incidents of injury in the UK.
This latest recall is a blow to the toy manufacturer which only last month recalled 55,000 of its Fisher-Price Go Diego Go Animal Rescue Boat as the product was found to contain unacceptably high amounts of lead.
The first recall took place in August involving 1.5 million toys finished with paint containing dangerously high amounts of lead. Just two weeks later, another 18 million toys were found to pose a danger as they contained small magnets which could fall out, and potentially be swallowed by children. Then in September, Mattel was forced to recall another 850,000 toys due to problems with lead paint.
