McDonald’s has announced strong second quarter financial growth.
McDonald’s has reported strong second quarter global financial results, with earnings up 15% and profits up 12%.
Sales were up the highest in Europe (5.2%), followed by Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa up 4.6%, and the US rising 3.7%. France, Russia and the UK fuelled Europe’s 9% operating increase, attributed mainly to the upgrade to its restaurants interiors, while increases in US operating income (up 7%) was driven by menu choice.
Jim Skinner, CEO of McDonald’s, said: “McDonald’s second quarter reflects strong top-line and bottom-line results with each area of the world generating higher comparable sales, traffic and profits.
“I am pleased with our second quarter performance and confident in our ability to continue to deliver solid results. As we begin the third quarter, our momentum continues with July global comparable sales trending in-line with or better than second quarter sales.”
McDonald’s serves approximately 60 million customers around the world every day.
