The travel company TripAdvisor ® has launched a new flight search engine in the UK, offering the best deals to be found on the web.

Eight months after the launch of the service in the US, the beta service sources flight itineraries from across the internet and allows extensive refinement of options such as number of stops, duration of flight, airports, and currency the price is displayed in.

The facility also includes a dynamic Fees Estimator – a first-of-its-kind product to help travellers understand the true cost of a flight. This revolutionary feature calculates and compares the entire cost of a flight from the UK to destinations throughout continental Europe, including ticket price, charges associated with some payment methods, fees for checked luggage and even anticipated in-flight food and beverage service, based on the traveller’s needs.

A recent TripAdvisor survey of 600 Britons revealed that the average traveller currently spends three and a half hours researching flight options across six different websites in order to find the optimum flight – this new search engine is designed to shorten this considerably.

Travellers will see direct booking links to leading carriers including BA, Virgin Atlantic and bmi, in addition to the UK’s largest travel companies including Expedia, Opodo and ebookers.com.

TripAdvisor also taps SeatGuru’s user reviews of thousands of good and bad airplane seats, so you can find the best available seat for your flight.

Bryan Saltzburg, General Manager of New Initiatives at TripAdvisor and Head of the flight search engine, said: “After successfully launching TripAdvisor’s flight search in the US and helping millions of travellers find the lowest ticket prices the most often, we wanted to bring our award-winning tool to the UK.

“Now, British travellers will be able to easily search a large selection of flight choices all in one place and can use TripAdvisor’s integrated Fees Estimator to reveal the extra charges associated with their flight, so there won’t be any surprises at check-in.”

TripAdvisor Media Network, operated by TripAdvisor, LLC, attracts more than 33 million monthly visitors across 14 popular travel brands. For more information, and to try the new flight search engine, click here.
