BSkyB has released a new application for Apple iPhones and iPod touches, allowing users to watch live TV including Football Premier League matches on the go.

In the new application announced today (10 November), Sky Mobile TV will allow users to stream live TV via WiFi, including Sky Sports and Sky News. Subscription to the new application available from the Apple App Store will cost £6 a month.

It costs up to £35 per month to watch Sky Sports channels on a regular television set.

As well as Premier League matches, customers will be able to view Scottish football, international and domestic cricket matches, rugby and golf tournaments.

David Gibbs, General Manager for Mobile at Sky, said: “In less than a year we’ve already seen millions of downloads of Sky’s Apps from the App Store. Our new Sky Mobile TV App combines the demand for great live TV on the move with the high quality viewing experience offered by iPhone and iPod touch.

“Sky Mobile TV offers more choice, control and flexibility for customers ensuring they can access the content they want, at a time that’s convenient to them, on the screen of their choosing.”

Sky already offers a range of applications on iPhones and iPod touches, such as Sky+ Remote Record, Sky News, Sky Sports Cricket Score Centre and Sky Sports Football Score Centre. These Sky apps have been downloaded two million times to date.

The latest application, Sky Mobile TV, is now available to download free from the App Store.
