Travelodge creates 250 jobs
Travelodge continues its expansion by unveiling plans to open 10 new hotels.
Budget hotel chain Travelodge is continuing its expansion with the investment of £47 million to open 10 new hotels across the UK, which will create 250 jobs.
The additional hotels will provide Travelodge with 857 rooms, bringing its total room portfolio to 27,000. Spread across the UK, new hotels will be built in Edinburgh, High Wycombe, Ipswich, London, Llanelli, Manchester, Newbury, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Wadebridge.
Welcome news to job seekers, the 250 entry-level jobs will be recruited through Travelodge’s employment partner – Job Centre Plus.
Travelodge’s Managing Director for Development, Paul Harvey, said: “Whilst the property market is still challenging we have been able to add some fantastic sites to our estate.
“With this selection of hotels, we have managed to enter new towns for the first time and also build on our strength in the major cities.”
The Edinburgh addition means Travelodge is the biggest hotel brand in the city as it doubles its hotel figure.
With rooms from just £19, Travelodge appears to have defied the economic crisis, and continues to strengthen its position as one of the leading budget hotel chains. In 2008, the firm boasted more than six and a half million customers.
Earlier this month, the Dubai-owned hotel group revealed separate plans to open seven new hotels this year, creating 150 new jobs from the £22m investment. The company said it aims to reach a target room portfolio of 70,000 by 2020.
