E.ON cuts its prices by 3.3%
E.ON announces customers will benefit from an average saving on bills by 3.3%.
E.ON has announced that it will eliminate the standing charge for its gas prepayment meter customers, and cut its gas prices by around £25, equivalent to 3.3%.
E.ON is one of the UK’s leading power and gas companies with more than 5.5 million customers in the UK. It said around 200,000 gas prepayment customers will benefit from the removal of the standing charge, and a further 1.8 million residential households will profit from the gas price reduction.
Jim McDonald, Commercial Director of E.ON’s Retail business, said: “We’re delighted to be able to remove the gas prepayment meter standing charge which we had promised to do last year.”
He continued: “We’re committed to offering competitive prices at all times and delivering on our promises.”
According to energyhelpline.com, an independent price comparison service, UK suppliers have dropped their standard prices by approximately 5%, following increases in last year’s bills by 42%. British Gas has slashed prices by the highest margin with a 10% drop announced in May, citing the primary reason as a fall in wholesale prices.
The consumer website is urging people to review how much they are paying for gas and electricity to ensure they are getting the best value.
