ExxonMobil produces energy report
ExxonMobil’s CEO and Chairman, Rex W. Tillerson, commented that ‘energy challenges faced by the world are undeniable’.
A detailed analysis of the world’s expected energy efficiency and usage over the next two decades, Outlook for Energy: A view to 2030, has been produced by the ExxonMobil Corporation.
Among its findings, the report concluded that renewable energy sources, such as biofuels, wind power and solar energy, are growing at around 9% every year and that by 2030, their usage will have quadrupled in their representation of the world’s energy.
However, another energy area that will also have increased by 2030 is the level of energy-related CO2 emissions – from an annual level of 27 billion tonnes in 2005 to 37 billion tonnes by 2030, an increase of over 70%.
Rex W. Tillerson, ExxonMobil’s Chief Executive and Chairman, said: “The energy challenges faced by the world are undeniable. Economic progress will drive energy demand, oil and gas will remain indispensable for the foreseeable future, and a global effort will be required to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.
“ExxonMobil’s Energy Outlook provides us with an opportunity to use a common set of data in seeking solutions to the world’s energy challenges. Understanding the outlook for energy and thoughtfully examining our options is essential.”
The report is developed annually and analyses around 100 countries, 15 demand sectors and 20 fuel types. For more information visit www.exxonmobil.com/energyoutlook.
