Contracts Manager, East Sussex
£25,000 to £35,000 per annum
Contracts Officer to establish and maintain the administration of allocated minor contracts and to provide support to the business area commercial staff.
The ideal candidate will have some sales administration, business experience and will be looking to develop in the Commercial Department and expand upon their skill base.
Domestic travel and overseas travel maybe required (infrequent).Administration and day-to-day management of contracts and sub-contracts. Day-to-day communications with customer for sales opportunities and resolution of commercial issues. Preparation, submission and logging of quotations. Review purchase order terms and conditions. Monitor contract performance to ensure company compliance. Control invoicing, cash, bookings and billings of allocated programmes. Responsibility for achieving cash and cost targets for those allotted contracts within the business area, including the maintenance of accurate and timely forecasts of cash receipts from Billings. Administration and commercial support of business area bid team during bid preparation. Ensure despatches are made and invoiced in a timely manner. Provide milestone planning to generate positive cash flow and contract cover. Assist senior team members negotiations on customers/sub-contractors to minimise liability of and to maximise profit margins. Input and maintenance of Information Systems, database logs and company intranet. Support business area Programme Managers. Develop and maintain a good working relationship with customers and subcontractors.
Good basic education (5 GCSEs including maths preferred). Experience in Sales Administration. Law or Business Degree Graduate (desirable).
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
REQUIRED: An effective communicator, both written and oral. Highly computer literate, particularly MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel, with associated keyboard skills. Good interpersonal communications. A clear understanding of the basic order/invoice process. Ability to be flexible and work in a highly dynamic, pressured environment. Self-motivated and able to work independently, with minimal supervision. Knowledge of finance processes.
DESIRED: Knowledge of terms and conditions and contractual law would be an advantage. Experience of working with other major defence contractors desirable. Knowledge of Drafting of Tenders, Contracts and other Commercial documentation would be desirable.
