Development Manager/ Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Manager/ Team Leader to join a well established blue chip organisation based at their prestigious offices in Surrey.
As a Development Manager you will provide leadership and direction to a small Application Development Team to ensure that they deliver projects to create new or enhanced products as part of an agreed programme plan. The Development Team Leader will have line management responsibility for resources as assigned to them, and will need to liaise with other IT Development teams in other offices and the Services team in Devon to ensure that projects are delivered successfully. A key part of this role is to drive the migration away from out dated legacy technologies to ensure that our clients Solutions continue to fit for purpose. The majority of our clients products are written in c/c and our client are progressively updating their systems to more modern c#/.net technologies.
The role is hands on and will involve some project work, it requires strong technical skills, in depth knowledge of application architecture and design patterns, plus an understanding of the end to end process required to deliver effective business solutions.
As a Development Manager you will manage Development resource as assigned to ensure that projects are delivered to comply with agreed technical architecture. This will involve reviewing technical designs, ensuring compliance with technical standards and enforcing QA procedures. The role will also require close liaison with the Project Manager to ensure effective end to end process.
You will undertake development (design and or coding) tasks as required to ensure that the team are able to meet key project deadlines.
Provide effective line management for resources as assigned to ensure high performance. This will involve undertaking 6 monthly performance development reviews to set challenging individual objectives (aligned departmental goals) and to identify training needs. The leader will also be required to hold regular 1-1 reviews and provide general support and guidance as and when required to help individuals maximise their potential.
You will work closely with Product Managers to help them develop product strategies and to take specific ideas through feasibility and design. This will involve assessing technology options, identifying risks and promoting opportunities. The role will also provide assistance in the preparation of business cases.
As a Development Manager you will have a min of 5 years experience in a similar role.
You will have a solid understanding of commercial process and IT gained in a successful commercial environment , an understanding of a wide range of development tools and methods, range of development technologies and much more!
