The Role:

The primary role of Senior Contract Manager within the London Commercial Desk is to provide EU Contract Law based leadership in contract drafting and client-facing contract negotiation in support of our Sales managers.

Core Duties:

- Transform contract management from a reactive desk activity to a pro-active commercial and enforceable strategy.
- Negotiate, draft, and respond to a wide variety of non-standard commercial agreements in NEU.
- Have a proficient understanding of EU laws such as data protection, intellectual property, indemnification and limits of liability, non-disclosure, consequential loss, etc. and be able to explain and apply their intent as well as negotiate them as it applies to our business in client-facing meetings.
- Build strong working relationships with Sales, Corporate Legal, and other globally located Commercial Desk staff, Operations, Insurance Teams and Marketing.
- Support Group contract template drafting, editing and localization initiatives.
- Refer and escalate non-standard requests as per London’s Commercial Desk Referral & Escalation Guidelines.
- Contribute to Commercial Desk Contract Management Playbook on how to respond to typical client objections.
- Research any new laws and pro-actively communicate them along with any recommendations to NEU Managing Director and Group Commercial Desk Director. Review with Group Counsel.
- Support NEU Managing Director on NEU specific initiatives from time to time.
- Support Group Commercial Desk initiatives from time to time.

Key Competencies:

They are seeking a commercially astute and business oriented contract manager who thrives in client facing discussions and pro-active contract negotiation. These discussions are often with client’s legal team and / or with their senior procurement management. Thus, the ideal candidate will also have extraordinary communication skills and be able to ‘think on the spot’ to position mutually agreeable alternatives to client objections.

Likewise, the ideal candidate will demonstrate firmness and willingness to walk-away from unreasonable commercial and legally binding positions that may compromise our business.

They are seeking a self-starter who can multi-task and work effortlessly side-by-side our Sales team. Be able to coach Sales and colleagues in Commercial Desks and provide guidance on how to enforce our contracts as part of ongoing account management.

Requirements:

Education:
- B.A./B.S. degree from a top institution
- Higher level education is a plus

Skills / Knowledge:
- Proficiency in EU Contract Law
- Highly confident contract negotiator

Experience:

They are seeking qualified contracts professional or paralegal with several years of proven successful commercial contract drafting, contract management and contract negotiation experience.

Preferred industries are Financial Services, Banking, Computer Software, Insurance, Supply Chain Management or other Assistance Companies.

Travel:

- Some travel within Northern Europe will occasionally be required.

Languages:

- Proficient spoken and written UK English
