Farmers Guardian runs a health and safety special issue

9:42am GMT, Thursday, 6 January 2011

Farmers Guardian has run a health and safety special issue (31 December), highlighting the culture change that is needed for the industry to shake the title of ‘Britain’s most dangerous’.

The publication speaks supportively of HSE’s Make The Promise initiative which encourages farmers to come home safely and emphasises that this isn’t down to HSE alone, but that industry itself has a significant role to play in making farming safer. The coverage features an interview with HSE’s head of agriculture Graeme Walker and the personal stories of farmers seriously injured at work who are now advocates of ‘Make the Promise’.
