G.A.P Adventures wins Tanzanian award
G.A.P Adventures has been awarded the Tanzania Tourist Board’s 2008 Humanitarian Award.
G.A.P Adventures has announced that it has been presented with the Tanzania Tourist Board’s (TTB) 2008 Humanitarian Award.
The organisation’s Planeterra Foundation was presented with the award because of its support of Youth Challenge International’s (YCI) HIV/AIDS educational programme in Tanzania.
YCI’s not-for-profit programme carries out three-day employment skills training seminars and educational workshops for young men and women in the country.
Bruce Poon Tip, G.A.P Adventures’ Chief Executive Officer, said: “With this award, the Tanzania Tourist Board brings prominence to humanitarian efforts and highlights the need for ongoing commitment. G.A.P Adventures is committed to giving back to the communities we travel through, and is pleased to support an HIV/AIDS Education Workshop Program in Tanzania which reaches over 1,000 Tanzanian youth.”
The award was presented by the Minister of Natural Resources & Tourism at the Annual Africa Travel Association Congress’ Gala Awards Dinner.
