Silverjet, a luxury business airline, has announced a successful first year of operation.

Silverjet, the British luxury long-haul business class airline, has celebrated its first year of operation and has announced its first passenger statistics for 2008.

The business airline flies daily between London Luton airport to New York (Newark) and Dubai – using private terminals at both ends on its London to Dubai route – and it plans to add further long-haul destinations over the coming years.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) statistics, Silverjet was the most punctual airline on the London to New York route in 2007.

Lawrence Hunt, Silverjet’s Chief Executive, was proud of the airline’s achievements over the last year. He commented on its success: “During January, traditionally one of the quietest months for long haul travel, our very successful ‘Very Sivilised Sale’ resulted in 18,131 forward sectors booked, more than double (up 132%) December 2007.

“Total revenue also more than doubled (up 106%) compared to December. This is also undoubted vindication of the desire of our target customers, in New York, Dubai and London, to fly from our private terminals in a luxury aircraft and at fares often 50% lower than our competitors…the Board continues to be confident that Silverjet will achieve its first month of pre-tax profit and be cash generative in March 2008.”

The airline has won numerous awards since its launch, including The Sunday Times Travel’s prestigious best airline award and Conde Nast Traveller’s Best Business Class Only Airline.
