Summer weather 2010 forecast announced
A BBQ summer for the UK – warm temperatures and sunny spells forecast by Positive Weather Solutions.
Could the UK be in for a BBQ summer this year? Summer 2010 looks set to be warmer than average and have good spells of sunshine, according to Positive Weather Solutions (PWS).
June, July, and August will all experience warmer-than-average temperatures, with some rain towards the end of June and the beginning of July, and thunderstorms caused by the humidity, but there may be record temperatures in the last part of summer.
Jonathan Powell, Senior Forecaster at PWS, told the Daily Mail: “There will be stifling temperatures, making it possibly the warmest UK summer on record and placing it at least in the top three warmest summers recorded.”
Last year, the Met Office was much-vilified for predicting a “BBQ summer” when in fact it was a wash-out. Temperatures had expected to be around, or above, 30°c, and heatwave advice was issued, however rainfall was higher than average over the summer, particularly in August, and the Met Office was forced to revise its forecast.
Powell added: “A very warm summer has been on the cards for some years, and the Met Office believed it was likely to happen last year. But now it is time to get the barbecue out – and people should be able to find a good deal on one after last year’s Met Office forecast.”

I wish they would keep their mouths shut, everytime they predict a bbq summer we have a complete washout.
March 24th, 2010 at 12:25 amthey ave been predicting a hot summer since 2007 and every year we get the worst summer ever i will believe a hot summer when i see it they cant even tell u what the forcast is in may so god knows how they can predict weather for june july and august lol!!!!!!
April 6th, 2010 at 11:52 amClearly not going to happen, we have had 2 decent summers in the past decade, and that is all I think. I reckon this summer will be the coolest on record, not record breaking warmth.
Based on nothing but conjecture.
I dont need conjecture to say the records wont be broken though.
April 18th, 2010 at 8:42 pmIn Australia, we experience winters over 30 degrees.
So if this ‘bbq summer’ does occur for the UK, you’ll be fine!
There’s nothing better than sunshine for a lovely day.
April 21st, 2010 at 7:32 amWell, believe it or not this year is starting to look very like 2007, which unfortunately means probably a similar summer re run, cool and wet. May will almost certainly be cold and wet which below average temperatures, the summer will probably extend this.
There is little to no chance of an above average summer nevermind a hot one based on current signals.
April 28th, 2010 at 6:45 pmWill believe it when I see it!!
May 25th, 2010 at 10:32 pmStick some seaweed outside more reliable than these so called experts!!
looks like their wrong again.according to met office theres going to be alot of rain all summer.the odd day of hot weather, but then again we could all predict that!!!!
June 6th, 2010 at 9:15 amWell, so much for the so called Bar B Q summer ( again). This was supposed to be a summer to match 1976 according to PWS. Even they can’t get it right.
June 9th, 2010 at 12:25 amI absolutely adore English summers as long as I can stay in the south of Italy and come back to enjoy a cool September
June 18th, 2010 at 11:12 pmCompletely wrong as usual, useless information that gets the peoples hopes up. Summer has disappointed because the “weather people” said it would be boiling hot. Its the middle of august and im wearing a coat. Keep your mouths shut and get areal job you useless gits.
August 16th, 2010 at 11:34 ami think it hasnt been too bad, especially here in london suburbs. Been a fairly nice summer, warm, sunny, and barbecues pretty much every sunday.
August 18th, 2010 at 2:50 pmAnother BBQ Summer? I don’t think so. These guys can’t even predict a week ahead let alone a few months. When looking at a weather map for the week, it changes every day, you can’t even plan ahead because you just can’t rely on the forecast.
The sun will probably again come out as soon as the children are back in school like it normally does every year.
Give it up as a bad job guys and instead of getting peoples hopes up we’ll just see what the weather brings us.
August 23rd, 2010 at 9:06 ami am really hoping someone will predict that the summer of 2011 will be awful.. cold and wet.. because we always get the total opposite of the prediction!!
