Survey reveals reasons for travel stress
Research reveals that arriving in time for flights is stressful.
A recent poll of travellers has revealed the biggest cause of travel stress for couples – getting to the airport on time.
Cited as the most likely reason for couples to argue, arriving on time was declared more stressful than remembering tickets or passports, or securing the house before leaving.
One in five travellers also dreaded the journey from the airport into the local city centre more than the actual flight itself.
Dr Mark Porter, GP and media personality, commented on the findings: “We’ve all had one of those nightmare journeys to the airport at some point and know how stressful it is to feel like you’re going to miss you flight, especially if you know you should have left earlier, planned your route better or checked the travel news before you left.
“Checking for a flight online and booking an airport transfer in advance of a trip can go a long way to remove the hassle and reduce stress during your journey.”
The travel stress survey was commissioned by Dot2Dot, a new National Express airport shuttle service between central London and the city’s airports, Gatwick and Heathrow – visit www.dot2.com for more details.
