London conference explores opportunities in India
The Indian construction market is full of opportunity, such as in Mumbai.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) London is hosting a conference on 10 January for construction companies and service providers to examine the business opportunities in India.
India boasts one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and with this growth goes a parallel increase in construction, creating numerous openings for overseas companies in the modernisation and regeneration of the country’s cities.
The “Building World Class Cities in India” conference will take place on Thursday 10 January, at the Foreign & Commonwealth Building, King Charles Street, London.
The event will deliver a practical insight into India’s construction sector and how to tap into it, using the key strengths of British companies operating in this area – such as sustainable development methods and cutting-edge technology – which will be essential in the transformation of Indian cities.
Highlights will include an overview of forthcoming construction projects; useful facts and advice on financial and business practices and cultural attitudes; and a description of the public-private partnerships shaping India’s transport and sanitation systems.
Additionally, representatives of Arup, Benoy and JCB – companies already active in the Indian market – will talk about their experiences there and provide tips for successful trading.
Simon Bee, Executive Director and Head of Urban Regeneration & Masterplanning at international architectural firm Benoy, who will speak at the conference, commented: “India is a stimulating market for architects and designers, and a fitting place for British companies to realise interesting and innovative urban design. In two years, Benoy has won 28 major projects in India, in some of the country’s most significant cities.”
