Kodak opens Chinese plate manufacturing plant
Printing plates, such as Kodak’s PTP positive thermal plates, will be produced at the new Xiamen plant.
Eastman Kodak Company opened its newest printing plate manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China, today.
The state-of-the-art factory will produce both digital and conventional printing plates, and will be part of the locally manufactured computer to plate (CTP) solutions from Kodak for the growing China market and Asia Pacific region.
During the opening ceremony, Kodak’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Philip J. Faraci, said: “This is an important occasion for our commercial printing customers in China and around the world. Kodak’s US$50 million (£24 million) investment in plate manufacturing in China demonstrates our strong commitment to offset printing and strengthening our position in the graphic communications industry.”
In addition to the Xiamen plant, the company already operates plate production facilities in seven countries around the world including Germany, the UK, Japan and the US.
