MOD cuts jobs to buy more helicopters

Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth has announced plans to cut jobs and close RAF Cottesmore in order to buy 22 new Chinook helicopters and other equipment for Afghanistan.


A special Armistice Day service was held at Westminster Abbey in London this morning (11 November), with the Queen leading the two-minute silence to remember the end of the First World War.


The production of opium – which contains the primary ingredient of Heroin – is in decline in Afghanistan according to the latest figures from the UN.


Afghanistan’s Presidential elections on 20 August will be monitored by Afghan citizens, following the introduction of online messaging service, Alive in Afghanistan.
