FSA fines Swinton £770,000 for misselling PPI

Following a review of high street insurance broker Swinton’s PPI sales process, the FSA has released its findings and said it has fined the company £770,000 for “serious failings.”


Swiss Re has reported second quarter losses of CHF 381 million, mainly due to market losses on corporate bond hedges, while Munich Re boasts profits of €703 million.


Aviva, has announced the sale of its Australian life and pensions business and wealth management platform – ‘Aviva Australia’, to the National Australia Bank (NAB).


American International Group has announced the sale of insurance arm 21st Century Insurance Group, to Zurich Financial Services Group.


Around 2,000 fraudulent insurance claims – worth £14 million – are being filed every week in response to the UK recession, according to the ABI.
