$9m boost for Australia’s tourism industry

The Australian Government has announced a AUS $9 million (£5 million) boost for its tourism industry, focusing on the way it is promoted in international and domestic markets.


The first artificial surf reef in Europe has been officially ‘opened’ in Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth in Dorset – a year later than planned.


Trafalgar Square has topped a poll of the ten most popular tourist attractions in the UK, according to international visitors.


The number of visitors to the UK has fallen for the first time since 2001 as tourism figures for 2008 drop 2.7% compared with the previous year.
