Social networking site launched for the over-50s
The over-50s now have their own dedicated social networking website.
Saga, the UK’s specialist provider of insurance, travel and advice for the over-50’s, has launched a social networking site to provide an online community for the older generation.
The Saga Zone site, similar to Facebook and Myspace, has now been officially launched following a trial period that attracted 13,000 members.
Saga ‘Zoners’ – the oldest of which is 87 – can add profiles, send messages, write blogs and chat on forums. The company reports that some online members have already turned their virtual world into real-life friendship by enjoying a group holiday organised via the site’s message boards.
Andrew Goodsell, Chief Executive of Saga Group, said: “The internet is a place where the over-50s are thriving. Saga Zone is a place where they can mingle and chat about issues important to them, be they amusing or serious.”
