Helsinki-based Valimo Wireless has been chosen to receive the 2007 Frost & Sullivan European Excellence in Technology of the Year Award for its end-to-end mobile signature and identity solution.

Valimo’s solution enables people to sign transactions and documents using their mobile phone anytime, anywhere.

Research analyst Yin Fern Ko, from growth consultancy Frost & Sullivan, said: “Today, mobile phones are also being used for online purchasing, banking, and Internet surfing situations where authentication has to be considered seriously because each mobile phone with a subscriber identity module (SIM) card serves as an identity of the user.

“Valimo is a pioneer in the race to develop more sophisticated and innovative solutions to cater to the increasing needs of this market.”

In particular, Valimo’s patents influenced Frost & Sullivan’s decision. These innovations accelerate the evolution of the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM card) into a mobile identity module by reducing the costs and increasing the security of creating user identity credentials in SIM cards. This is accomplished through a more secure registration process and an improved user experience.

Valimo Wireless provides secure and convenient mobile signature solutions for online banking, e-commerce, corporate security and other uses, and its customers include major mobile operators, banks and corporations.
